ABOUT THE EVENTS (Sustainival & The ‘Green Beast’):

Sustainival will be hosting a full-scale green carnival & midway, powered by waste vegetable oil collected from around the community, at MacDonald Island Park over the Labour Day weekend from August 30 to September 2, 2013.

The ‘GREEN BEAST’ Challenge (www.greenbeast.me) is a 6-hour amazing-race-style event, which takes place on a live- action course assembled out of (25) carnival rides, obstacle courses, inflatables, games and physical trials.  The Green Beast takes place at the Sustainival Midway.

On Saturday morning (August 31), hundreds of competitors will charge onto the course. Each competitor receives a passport with a list of all the rides they must conquer, physical challenges and silly human tricks they must complete and a series of eco-puzzles and trivia questions to answer.

The day culminates in an evening celebration with live entertainment and an awards ceremony. During the ceremony, prizes in multiple categories are awarded based on the participants’ combined results of the physical and knowledge-based challenges.

The Green Beast also serves as a mega-fundraising platform for local charities and non-profits. When participants register, they select their favourite non-profit or charitable organization and are provided with their very own fundraising website, which they can easily share via email, Facebook, and Twitter.

We would LOVE for you to attend.
